Another fine creation from Thunder Forge!

I like it! Pretty good craftsmanship! Is the cocabolo you used stabilized?

That is a true piece of craftsmanship. Just like the old days.
Your work always impresses me!

That's a pretty knife. What will you be cutting with it?

It is going in to the 4 sale box... It would make a good field knife...

Nice knife Brian. Interesting design.
Stabilizing cocobolo would be like wearing a belt and suspenders.
Its loaded with its own heavy oil/resin anyway.
The stabilizing thing was invented for lighter woods, more fragile that stain easy. Something industry came up with to be able to use unsuitable woods.
Its kind of nasty too.
To stabilize, you put the wood into a vacuum chamber and draw down a heavy vacuum, all the while the wood is soaking in polyester resin with hardener added, and going off. It sucks the poly into the wood.
If plastic was what you wanted in a handle, lord knows plastic can be had easier than this!
Real wood requires care.

The railings on one of the two bridges at the bottom of our hill are made with 4 x 12 lengths of cocabolo lumber. It's been up more than 5 years now, and it shows no sign of failure other than it's a shade or two lighter than it was when it was installed.

Nice Work, as Always!
