Title: Who made this bobtail pin spanner wrench?

I have a bobtail pin spanner listed on Ebay, and I could not figure out who made it.  The number on it reminds me of Snap-on, but the letter style reminds me of Proto.  The pics are not that good.  The number is AN-8515.  It is marked with -2 on body and -4 on the arm.

The AN series are a set of mil spec's for various hand tools..

MIL AN8515-2
WRENCH - 1/2 INCH SQUARE DRIVE ADJUSTABLE SPANNER (1.75 TO 4 INCHES DIAMETER) (SEE BASE FOR CANCELLATION NOTICE) (NO S/S DOCUMENT) (SUPERSEDING AN8515-1)

I picked up a 3/8 drive x 1/2" crowsfoot wrench yesterday marked Proto AN8506-2.  I knew this was not the normal numbering scheme used by Proto, so my first thought MIL Spec. 

You have just varified my thought.  Thanks.

Is there a website with all the Mil Spec numbers?  Or, do you just google the AN number and see where it takes you?

There are a number of sites that will let you look up older mil part numbers in the hopes they can sell you a new part. But I generally google the number first, as the amount of information varies between the sites somewhat. Some will only give you the new part number, others will give you the specification summary, The DOD site will tell you who the original suppliers were, but the site is a pain to use...

This site will gove you the titles to some of the specs hoping you will buy a copy of the spec....

Hmmmm,, any of Korean war guys know if this was used on the old style .50 cal machine gun?
It looks about the same size as the barrel cover.
