Title: Portland Swap Meet
Post by: Hm Wrench on May 29, 2011, 08:16:43 PM
I thought I would post about some of the stuff I picked up at the Portland swap meet, which is held every year in April by 8 car clubs, at the same time is also the PIR raceway swap meet.  Tons of tools at extremely low prices, everything was a dollar or less.  With parking and both swap meets it comes to about 27 bucks for the day, but it was a lot a fun and worth the price.   I would have loved to bring home this 1940 Buick, only $4750. The 2012 swap meet is April 13, 14, 15.

There was little bit of everything and I actually bought an entire box from one vendor. A little Vlcheck, Plomb, Some spark plug wrenches etc.  I left out the 30 Honda wrenches I also bought.  I found some J.P. Danielson which I vary rarely ever see and was excited about and have since started a small J.P Danielson collection.

Nice bunch. I really like the brace spark plug socket. Never seen one before. Probably a practical idea in the day when you didn't have to take the motor out to change splugs.

Never crossed myt mind to go to car show swap meets for tools.  I'll add that to my search mode in the future.

Good stash you reeled in there bud.

I use to sell at car swap meets back in the 1970s when we still lived in N. California. Always made good money. I knew some people that ran a scrap metal yard. You can not believe stuff that shows up in a place like that.  We went to a meet in Oregon a few months ago that was held in some big barns. I found alot of tools also at good prices.

Nice LAKESIDE adjustable wrench. Never heard of that brand before. Looks just like my JP Danielson.
Must have been a contract tool?

Nice haul!

I believe lakeside was a M-Wards tool brand long ago.

Yes, but there is also a wrench maker (Lakeside forge) with that name, however in this case, it's M-wards

Only Danielson and Diamond broached the hole to make it into a box wrench.
The two are very difficult to tell apart at a distance, but this one is likely Danielson, based on the thumbscrew bevel detail. There should be a date code near the hole....

The Lakeside signature on the wrench is identical to the one on my Lakeside claw hammer.

Here some close ups of the two adjustable wrenches. I do not see a date code.
