Title: Antique Wrench Auction
Post by: Bus on December 27, 2011, 12:46:25 PM
I spent several days last week in the metropolis of Iuka, Kansas helping Missouri Valley Wrench Club member Robert Burkey catalog his wrench collection for his auction on March 10 at Larned, KS.

Catalog is now on the web at:
http://www.wrenchingnews.com/burkey-auction-2012/catalog.html (http://www.wrenchingnews.com/burkey-auction-2012/catalog.html)

Photos of all the listed lots are at

Photos can also be viewed as a slideshow, etc. at

Absentee bids are welcomed. See Late Breaking Wrenching News for more information at

Bus, I really like the slideshow option, and the green background is great!

Thanks. The background cloth was old pool table felt the Burkey's had. I just used the florescent lighting that was in the building and set the camera (Cannon G12) on automatic.

Two of my three absentee bids were successful!
I won Lot# 432 and Lot#433- H D Smith tools.

Those screwdrivers now, gonna take a lot of work to refresh them, new wood, you gonna share, or have that much room left on your wall?

I'll try my hand at rescuing some of them and some could be in a future giveaway. See that three-way in the first lot?
Some may even go to 64longstep for some re-purposing.

We'll ask Bus to tell us, but since it is an auction of a man's collection, I bet t a low bid.everything sells, even if at a low bid.

They all sell even if it's just a $1.00 for the lot.

Thats a shame, it would be nice if a heads up were put in the general discussion section. Not trying to get out of looking all over the site but because of time limitations I can only pick and choose a few different areas of this site and this has never been one of them.
Either way, thanks for the response

Am I looking at the bottom one in the first lot wrong or is there half of the handle missing? That is one of the 3 way screw drivers and there are 2 sections of the handle. It looks like one of the sections is missing to me.

It does look Irwinish, and is not H D Smith, I'm sure.
