Here are the "old" motorcycles that I had growing up.
1. James- made in England, 1 cyl., 2 stroke, 3 speed hand gear shift on left side of gas tank.
2. Servi-cycle- made in the USA, a big rubber belt went around the rear rim and connected to a left foot rocker pedal. You pushed the pedal down slowly while adding gas and off you went. 4 stroke
3. Cushman scooter, Bench seat, soild floor pan, kick starter in middle of floor pan, speed sensitive centrifugal clutch. 4 stroke
4.Cushman Eagle, 2 speed gear shift, sat low, small tires like an atv of today. 4 stroke
5. Zundapp- made in Germany. 2 stroke, headlight pin starter key. super fast 2 stroke.
6.BSA 500 sport twin. Fast, pipes high up on right side. Out drag any car.
Hardest bike to ride was a 500cc AJS. single cyl, compression release, scary acceleration, bad brakes.

I could make a list, but it would be way too long! Been riding 50 years!

Thanks for th Motorcycle link, great stuff!. It is funny you mentioned this, because I picked up two dynomite cycle books yesterday at a yard sale for a buck each. Every page has eye candy, but my favorite is the first "Disputed" motorcycle made, (between the first and second shown), and the Army Harley.

I know of no wrench or tool kits on any of the old motor bikes that I had thru High School.
I remember a small metal box with a door under the seat, but it was always empty. I NEVER owned a new bike. Always used!!!

Thanks Mr. Chuck

There is a reason why motorcycles have a cover over the flywheel. If you don't know why, just ask my left leg.

While owning a vintage Indian may be nice, I don’t ever see it in my budget. I saw a nice old Honda with café bars the other day. I owned and still have a thing for RD350’s right now I would like to own a Ural gear up, so I could ride with my son. My dream bike right now is a new or newish BMW GSA1200.
I am getting to the point that I don’t like wrenching on toys just to keep them running. I have so many carburetor issues do to lack of use and the bad fuel these days. My next dirt bike and street bike will be fuel injected.

I almost forgot my list of Motorcycles.
My list's a lot shorter. Back around '69-70, I rode a BSA 650 Spitfire, lightened up just
shy of being chopped. Very quick machine. A very fun ride...
