Title: oil fired heater? or not
Post by: skipskip on May 26, 2021, 09:29:13 PM

I am hoping for some help on this device.

We have a member here who collects gas torches, from Oz I believe.

This is a heater and says not to use oil fired devices in closed space.

But its from Britain, and "oil" may mean something different than what I imagine.

What does it burn? and how does it work? like Coleman lantern with a mantle?

thanks

Tilley was a British company who where well known for their lamps, they also made some blow torches.
You have a heater there that worked similar to a blow torch but used 'kerosene' I'm not sure what you guys call it, but it is an oil product.

Interestingly parts are still available in the UK, why not fix it up?

Kerosene here  is a light fuel oil obtained by distilling petroleum, used especially in jet engines and domestic heaters and lamps and as a cleaning solvent.

 called  Paraffin  in Britain.

It will get a good home, going to a customer who collects unusual  fuel powered devices.

Thanks Batz

It has a built in pump so it burns pressurized white gas / coleman fuel. Some coleman stuff was made, or modified, to work with kerosene

You will find most British stuff uses kerosene, white gas was used in the US much more.

Check out British blow torches and lamps they all use kerosene.
