I’m assuming we’ve all been there. You go to an estate sale and find the garage picked over by relatives before the sale starts. Such was my lot last Sunday. I found a few nice bits, but most of the tools were cleared out before the sale started. That was kind of disappointing because with all the carb spray and other items I know there were more tools.
I found this Craftsman wrench at the bottom of the box full of other junk. I threw it in my box because it said Craftsman.
Model 47755 9/16 - Distributor Wrench - made in Japan - BF manufacturer’s code.
Were these mostly purchased separately or did they come in sets?

Hi yadda, To my knowledge they were sold separately. The one you got was for GM cars with the distributor in the back.
The Ford version used a 1/2 inch wrench and the handle pointed toward the wrench, kind of a 'U' shape. You really didn’t need one for the Fords since the distributor was in the front, but you darn sure did for the GM stuff.
Sure don’t see many of them anymore.

Thanks Mike! I knew it wasn't common any more when I couldn't find one on eBay. Not rare just not needed as much anymore I guess.

I never saw sets in the catalogs. There was/is a distributor wrench that fit some distributors, not all, consisting of two L-shaped pieces with the box wrench on the short leg of the "L," and a male 3/8" end (like a ratchet set) on the end of the long leg. A double square female coupling linked the two pieces together, so you could make it a "U" shape, a sort of Egyptian "S" shape, or even with one "L" at right angles (looked at from above) to the other.
I own one, but I've managed to avoid using it for a long time now.

Here are the four common ones.
All are in the 1974 catalog.
All are BF code made in Japan.
47753 9/16" Buick Pontiac Olds
47754 1/2" Chrysler
47755 9/16" Chevrolet
47756 1/2" Ford Mercury
As far as I know, they were not offered in any sets, sold singly.
