Title: Developing a picnic area with water feature.
Post by: coolford on February 03, 2020, 02:29:01 PM
I have owned this property for 22 years, but only moved here full time 2 years ago.  I always thought I would develop a picnic area associated with the waterfall.  Now is the time or never.  The total drop of the waterfall is about 50 feet, but it is in several stages before the last drop which is about 30 feet.  It is not a full time project, I spent a few hours at a time, so far have trimmed back trees and brush and moved a lot of rocks. The first picture is where the stream comes in from the spring, the second picture is the last waterfall and the third picture is an overall. The spot is at the beginning of a deep gorge and access is easy as one of my interior roads runs beside the gorge.

No snow yet this year, was 73 degrees yesterday and 70 today.  We have been lucky.

What part of the country is that?  Sure looks like a beautiful spot to cool off on a summer's day.

My great uncle had a creek running through his property. It didn't have the drops like yours, but large boulders and nice pools with a couple of small springs feeding it.  He rocked in one of the springs for drinking and cooling drinks.  He used the  sandstone to build benches, a grill, walls and an archway. All it took was time and patience, he had plenty of raw material.

I just figured out the problem! The 2 trees in picture #3 do not have a hammock hanging between them. Fix it Coolford!

BE CAREFUL. I know if I put the Hammock up too early, the work would probably suffer.

A great uncle of mine had a boy's camp in the Arkansas Ozarks. He built a swimming pool that was fed by a spring. Water came in one end and out the other. It was COLD !!!

Coolford,

Looks very nice.  I intend to retire somewhere around Lake of the Ozarks.  I hope I can find a spot that nice.
