Title: Yankee with stow-away bits
Post by: Clipper on November 02, 2019, 06:31:40 AM
From my Dad's toolbox. I've known this tool all my life so it's 1950s or older.

No makers mark, just that disappointing, anonymous word "Foreign".

Stanley's version of this little tool was in the Handyman series - not, that is, pro-grade, although the examples I've seen seem to have much the same chuck and drive mechanism.

Bill, thanks, are you saying this is a Stanley or a copy?

If it was a Stanley, it'll have the Stanley name on the metal sleeve, although, on some of the Handyman tools like that, they'd also paint something on the plastic.  I'd suspect a copy if there's no Stanley name visible.

Agreed, it's unlikely that Stanley would omit their name from one their tools.

I have a Craftsman -made in Japan one like it somewhere.  I think the screw on cap is chrome.
