Title: It's nice when...
Post by: amecks on October 17, 2019, 04:15:51 PM
...the guys at work know I'm interested in old tools.  Young Trevor brought these to me yesterday.  They were in an old cabinet that was being scrapped.  I cleaned them with hand wire brushes only, saving the patina.  No name on the pipe wrench, only a cast in number that is hard to read - maybe a 6.

So is the "Planet Jr." wrench for adjusting the idle on Pluto (which is now a junior planet)?

Don't get too curious or you'll get sucked into the black hole of garden cultivators, one-horse farm equipment, etc.  S.L. Allen (Philadelphia) used PLANET JR as brand name for a whole line of small scale gardening & ag. tools including early "tractor."  The wrench in this photo was for planters, cultivators, etc.

They made snow sleds, as well.  Anything to make a buck.

I have the same Planet Junior wrench hanging in my garage. One of the few real old tools I own.
