A recent find at my local Car Boot Sale (Flea Market to you guys across the pond), It looks hand made and pretty old. I believe this maybe a Shipwrights tool of some sort. Can anyone confirm or deny this ? Its about a foot long

Wish i knew. Looks like a plane blade, but not at all sure how (or what) it was used on. :undecided:
-
looks a bit like a cabinet scraper, maybe for barnacles?

Hello, Rustyric. I am not sure what it is either, but I like it!!! Great find!! Regards, Lou

It looks like a mill pick for sharpening millstones. See page 323 of Sellens book. The handles are usually longer. The blade is a little different than what I usually see, and there is usually not a wedge with that style.

please could you tell me the complete title of the book ?

Dictionary of American Hand Tools. Alvin Sellens.
