Hello, p_toad. I love it!!! But the suspense is killing me!!! Regards, Lou

Another nugget of knowledge to add to the pile!
Now if I could just remember where the pile is.
-
Hello, Papaw. Thanks for the info, I can sleep now!! p_toad, that looks to be a very nice set of cork borers!! Regards, Lou
-
Now you need a sharpener for the set, most people don't know what that is either when they see it.
-
Three questions:
a. Who would own such an item?
b. Why would that person decide to part with it?
c. Why would he not give it to a colleague?
After composing question c., I believe questions a. and b. pretty much answer themselves.
-
Sorry for not getting back sooner. Yes, cork borer and there is a sharpening tool (which i didn't see with it ). it's a bit beat up at the base of the largest cutter, and i'm going to have to ream a couple of them that are jammed up at the top ends, but overall it's in decent condition. Listed as pharmacy or apothecary tools.
a. Who would own such an item?
b. Why would that person decide to part with it?
c. Why would he not give it to a colleague?
A. Former pharmacist or collector (?)
B. They probably didn't. It was with their "stuff" when they died or got put in a home.
C. Never got the chance.

Hello, p_toad. I was going to make a similar comment. Could have also been from a lab, or, teaching environment. Or , sort of what you said, it may have gone to the family, and no one appreciated it. I am glad you had the eye to save it!!! Regards, Lou

As one lady there said when i snapped up a pile of steel piano hinges destined for the dumpster.... "he's a hoarder"
I like old "stuff" and tools. hope to post some more soon. Pretty sure a Trimo wrench came in with a couple of strange pliers.
-
Here's a couple of snaps of the Trimo which i finally found hiding in the garage.
-
Nice wrench. I like the styling on Trimo wrenches.
