Hello, Guys. I was on my way home from HD, when I spotted a garage sale sign that read 123 Mary St. I took this as an omen because I grew up at a different Mary St. , 126 to be exact, about 12 miles away. I see the lady of the house, and then I hear a voice from a chair, "Hey Lou, how are you doing?" Turns out to be a guy that I worked with about 40 years ago. I looked around, and saw nothing of interest. So, I said, hey Chuck, where are you hiding the tools? "Basement" was his reply. What you see in the pictures was all lined up along the wall , he gave me a fair price, and we loaded it up.Lots of import & rusty stuff, but there were quite a few USA wrenches, sockets, taps, and small calipers, still digging. A few empty plier & Starrett boxes, I believe I have the tools to fill them. More photos to come as I get things cleaned up. The box on the floor, and the machinist box are both Union. Regards, Lou

Wow!....just wow!
Is that a railroad spike sledge hammer sitting on the floor in the first photo?
-
Yes, that is!!. I still have to take a picture of the camel saddle!!! At least that is what I was told . I had my car, and not enough cash, so I left a healthy deposit, went home to get my truck, and raided the closest ATM!!! Regards, Lou

Hello, Guys. Thanks for the replies. I have been doing some sorting, cleaning, a lot of this stuff sat around for too long in a damp basement, you can see right through the bottoms of a couple of the metal boxes.. Found a few keepers, most of the rest is user quality, or for resale. I will post some of the stuff that I cleaned up, soon!! A few things I will need help for identification, will post soon in the what's it forum. Regards, Lou

I noticed on the pliers that you said "1st photo is before going in the tumbler". I am guessing your "tumbled" these, too?
Mind if i ask what kind of tumbler and what material? Nice looking tools once cleaned up.

Hello, peter. All of the large group of tools went through the tumbler cleaning process. The group of 5 pliers were the only ones I had the sense to document before and after. Cabellaas/Berry's Vibratory Tumblers with plastic resin media, Simple Green and water. First time I did a batch of pliers, worked out well. I will post soon something that did not turn out so well!!! Regards, Lou

Hi Lou,
I was looking at your haul (nice job by the way!) and noticed a Williams (I think) obstruction wrench (or possibly two) in the scrum. I circled them in red. Are those Williams wrenches? If so, can you tell me their sizes and/or model numbers? Thanks.

Hello, Jim. I will take a look in the Williams drawer, not sure if I stashed away that entire lot somewhere else. Regards, Lou

That’s a great day out Lou! I’ve enjoyed hearing and seeing about it, and learning of ‘tumbling’ also!
