Title: Another mystery.

I believe this is brass. Measures 3 1/4" long when closed. 6" when opened. It is not marked. 1/2" wide.

Probably a soapstone holder used by welders.

I think it’s a key to a lock. They key slides in the side of the lock.

Someone posted this type key on one of the forums wondering if it was a tool once before. I also thought so the first time I saw one at an estate sale. I had to ask them what it was. It was near the book shelf with glass doors, and apparently the lock held the two handles together.

It was hard to find an image without good search terms , but they might be referred to as a Chinese trunk lock.
