This flex Craftsman =v= socket set was nice and in the proper box, but it was rusty and painted maroon. I bead blasted it and then painted it with Rustoleum which was hammered. First time I used hammered paint.

I like the hammered paint finish. I've painted a few vises with it and it tends to hide imperfections.

Hey Coolford. Nice set of =V= Sockets, and a great job on the cleaning & paint job!!! Regards, Lou

Looks great! Plus one on hiding imperfections. I painted a Craftsman hip roof last year with gray hammertone. It's a box I've been using since 1974. I stripped the paint, banged out the dents (many) and treated it with rust converter. The hammertone does a good job - gives an industrial look finish.
Here's another box I painted last year. This is my work box in case I have go out on a service call.

I'm impressed, with the job the hammered paint does covering the imperfections. Good job on the larger box.

The larger box in the picture had a few dings that I hammered out, but I could not remove that warp in the front of the lid. It looks better in person than in the photo.
I used a silver Sharpie marker to touch up the plating. I use the Sharpie on my 50 year old motorcycles also. Another great touch up for plating is RubNBuff silver. It's a wax product that can be applied with your finger, a Qtip or thinned and brushed on. Applied on cadmium plated bolts its hard to tell its there.

Nice jobs.
I do wonder how they fit the hammer in the can

They just use a cast iron mixing ball for shaking it up. The ball puts little dents in the paint while it is still in the can. :-)

That second C-man box is one of my favorite ones. I try to buy every cheap one I can find. I have several that have aluminum lift handles
