I picked up this cast iron drill index at a thrift shop for $2. Anyone one know anything about this type of index?
It didn't come with any bits, and I took mine out for the picture.

Hello, Papadan. Very cool, first one I have seen!!! Those are usually cast from aluminum, or a pot metal. Regards, Lou

Very nice, haven't seen that one before. Whitman & Barnes made a lot of wrenches.

One of the forums had a thread where people posted pics of the drill indexes but which one? Did you try the search on here?

Very nice. I wonder what that cost new ? Was it a store display, retail item or a giveaway when you bought a set of bits ? Those index's bring big bucks on eBay.

Hello, Papadan, There is a lot of info regarding the W & B Co., but I could not find any info on when or where the indexes were sold or made. I believe they also marketed a No. 8 , which is the number set. Regards, Lou

Thanks for the info so far. I have a couple more indexes that aluminum, they are in storage right now. I don't remember the companies on them. I saw this one and grabbed it for my own use.
