Title: Mid-week Haul
Post by: lptools on January 19, 2019, 07:12:03 AM
Hello, I finally saw a couple of ads on Craigslist wort responding to!! (From top to bottom): On the left, Herbrand 2200 , Craftsman 3/8 Drive Allen Sockets, Adell Nibbler, Tweco Senior Grounding Clamp, and Snap-on Brake Key Pliers.   Middle row, Blue Point Spark Plug Tap Set, Cleco Style Pliers & Clamps, and OTC Retaining Ring Pliers.  On the right, Stanley No.4, Surform Rasp+ 3 extra blades, Wood Body File Handle with Vixen File/Blade, Bonney 1033-C Open End, Craftsman 1/2" Combo Wrench ( box end cut by former owner) , and a New Britain 13mm combo. Last photo is a Caterpillar Threaded Insert Set, similar to a Helicoil, but with this set only standard size taps are needed. Regards, Lou

Nice stuff.  Where's the best place to attach the grounding clamp to a senior?

Looks like an older - low knob - plane.

Good haul altogether.

Hello, Bill. Thanks!!! I am not sure about the grounding clamp, I will have to ask the Tweco Junior!!! Maybe it attaches to the ankle to keep the Senior from going out and buying more tools!!  Re; the No. 4, I haven't had a chance to tear it apart, rusty, but solid, low knob, thin sides, Stanley Rule arched logo on iron. Regards, Lou

Nice stuff Lou, and the Kennedy box.  How about a close up of the Blue Point spark plug tap set - or explain - is it for threading new threads or rethreading?  That CAT box of thread inserts much have some value!

Hello, Al. Thanks!! I am in the process of cleaning the tap set, and the Caterpillar inserts. The Blue-Point catalog shows the set as a TDM-13, for use with aluminum heads. It is a Metric Set, and the tool that looks like a reamer is actually a counterbore. I will post pics once everything is cleaned up, and try to copy a description of the use of the tap set from the catalog.. Regards, Lou

Hello, Al. I hope this helps .TDM-13 SPARK PLUG TAP SET  From Snap-on Blue-Point Catalog R, circa 1946 ,Howard's Gen. Repair Warners Rd, Syr. N.Y.

Quickly repairs damaged threads in aluminum heads. If the threads are badly stripped it may be necessary to rebore the hole with the counterboring tool and re-thread for the next size spark plug. The
MCB-3 Counterbore will ream a 10 mm. hole to a 14 mm., a 14 mm. to 18 mm., and an 18mm. to a 7/8". The counterbore may be turned with a wrench or electric drill.
★TDM-13 Spark Plug Set. Four Spark Plug Taps and Counterbore tool .

Great stuff. Those thread repair inserts was a great find. They are very expensive at the store.
