Hello, All. The first 2 photos are what was left of the fence post caps that needed replacing. The next 4 are what I made for replacement. The old wood was cedar, it did not hold up well in this application. I did not do the turning, an 8" x 8" cube of glued up African Pearwood was sent to a local guy, and was turned to a 5" diameter, with a stub tenon for mounting. The rest is also African Pearwood, with one coat of epoxy resin sealer, and 2 coats of the finish color. The edge profiles were done by me with a combination of router bits, table saw, and some hand work. One of the fun aspects of my job!!! Regards, Lou

You just did!!! Thanks!!!!
Very nice work Lou, where did you get the Afr. pear wood and why did you choose it for this project?
Great job!
Hello, Yadda. Thanks!! Papadan , the short answer is "because it was there", we had a few thick slabs laying around. The long answer, African Pearwood is very stable, tight grain, machines very well, good rot & insect resistance. Regards, Lou
Thanks Lou, I work with a lot of exotic wood, but have never heard of African Pear, I'll have to look a little harder for it.
ditto on the NICE WORK or LIKE button
I agree with the others, nice work. Jim.
