Title: Lowell Wrench Co. hand vise

In an email I received today-
"I am trying to research a Lowell Wrench Co. hand vise, but it has an unusual handle that doesn't appear in any of my searches.  Moreover, on one side the tool is marked with the usual Lowell stamps, but the other is marked "MADE BY THE HULL & BELDEN CO., DANBURY, CONN."


Are you folks familiar with this tool and the markings?  Also, can you tell me when it was manufactured?

Patent # 166553 is for an improvement that added a sleeve to protect the threads. The image is missing from the patent, but Datamp has an image loaned to them. It is still not the same handle as yours.

Maybe THE HULL & BELDEN CO., DANBURY, CONN." didn’t like Lowell's handle and decided to replace it with one of their own design.
I have one of the small Lowell's with 1/4 in. jaws and it would definitely be hard to hold. That larger handle would be a big improvement.
