I've got a weird little tool here that has me baffled. It's a Stanley #95. What's it called and how's it used?
-
Stanley Butt Guage. I leave the rest to your imagination....
-
Walter's book says it is "For marking rabbet jambs, thickness of butts, mortises and marking. Also for squaring the edge of a butt hinge."

OK, great explanation, anyone need one? I buy prehung when needed. LOL
Hear that Yadda...prehung!

Here's an instruction sheet: http://tooltrip.com/tooltrip9/stanley/stanmisc/95man.pdf (http://tooltrip.com/tooltrip9/stanley/stanmisc/95man.pdf). They really are the bees' knees when you're doing even just one butt hinge installation; and a production carpenter running trim and doors in a house would have had a little shrine to Stanley in thanks.

Nice Bill, thanks for posting that sheet. Yadda needs to print that, I'm giving this gauge to him.
