Title: locking doors
Post by: bird on October 12, 2018, 12:55:07 AM
Well, now that I'm around, everyone is stuck with the potential urge to read my crazy "general posts." Anyhow, some may have heard this before. I can't remember if I ever told anyone this. A year or so back, I bit the bullet. Rather then have someone "top off" my air conditioner every month, I hired someone to put a whole new system in.  Expensive, but I don't regret it. Persons say, "why are you so hot? Didn't you live in South Carolina and Texas for a bunch of years?"
"Yes. I hated the heat then, and I hate it now."
Anyhow, nice fellow came to work on putting the new AC in. I haven't locked my house in 17 years .  I don't lock my car either. Hey, if someone is hard up enough to steal a 22 year old 240, they probably need it more then I do. I told the guy to come in whenever, the door's always unlocked. So, that day I was down in my shop. He tried to open the door to work on the duct work, but door was locked.

He said, "so you keep your house unlocked but have four locks on your shop?"

"When you put it that way, it seems kind of silly."

He laughed. But, the main reason I started to shut off the shop to nature was originally because of the influx of birds that chose to reside in my shop. Every now and then they'd venture upstairs. I was so used to it, that when I saw one I ran and closed all of the doors. Eventually it would leave. It's no wonder, as my brother would say, "They are of your kind."

That's all quite funny accept something that happened to me years ago. It has happened again, and I'm in a bit of a panic. I began locking my doors tight after birds, but also after I saw some snake skins lying around. I'm terrified of snakes. I'm not going to lie to you, those things give me nightmares. It doesn't help that I live where I live. I know more persons that have been bitten by snakes then those who have not been bitten by one.

So, as I enjoyed my evening cleaning up all of those adjustable wrenches I have, something touched me from above. No, it wasn't a snake. But, it was a snake skin hanging from the rafters above. I'm not at all happy about this. In this county, you look for snakes below your feet, but you don't expect an air raid from above.

So, assuming "super rattler" doesn't bomb dive me, I've had a pretty good day.

I enjoyed working on some wrenches, for a change. I don't get to do that as much as I'd like to. I'm considering trying to incorporate an umbrella into my daily outfit... pants, wallet in back, tape on the right, knife on the left...… and now an umbrella to go with it :)
Glad to be back, and thanks for listening/ reading my crazy posts.
cheers
bird.

Your posts are always a joy.

I'm not as adverse to snakes as you are but I don't care much for them. I don't blame you for reacting that way at all.

You want yourself one of these, Bird:

No need to tie up a hand holding the umbrella, so you can work faster; and the upturned rim means the snake skins will stay in place until you can dispose of them.

If you see a bull snake, you might think it is a rattler; but if you see a rattler, you will never think it is just a bull snake.
If only it were so easy to sort out people as it is snakes.

I'll let you in on my secret for judging people: look at their tool boxes! lol

I will happily trade you all your snakes for all my spiders, already had 1 heart attack because a giant wolf spider dropped on my head while sitting on the crapper. LOML smashed the hell out of him while dialing 911. True!

Yes, I imagine having a spider AND whatever spiders sit on to do their business land on your head would be a shock.

Oh, you meant you were sitting...

If you google "huge mexican sombrero for sale," you'll find lots of choices.

That search also popped this one up, not for sale, but we now know you can get them that fancy:
