Title: Bottom of the box finds

Hello, I bought a box full of mostly rusty tools to get at the 3/4" Drive Sockets. These 2 were on the bottom of the pile. The screwdriver has R P logo (overlaying each other) with 2 screws passing through like crossed swords. Reed & Prince, I believe, never knew they made screwdrivers. At bottom is a Herbrand 2344 Headlight & Horn Nut Wrench, seems to be legit. At first I thought previous owner cut the slots in the heads, but then I found a similar item on Worhtlesspoint. I just checked out in the garage and the only thing I had marked Reed and Prince was a small box of 8-32 brass machine screws. I have several wood handled screwdrivers that are R&P style, but they have no makers name on them.

The Herbrand wrench is a new one on me. Never seen one before or maybe just didn't know what I was looking at.

Reed & Prince drivers are similar to Phillips except the point isn't blunted or squared off like Phillips.  GM used R & P screws on their interior trim prior to the Torx days.  Using a Phillips driver in lieu of the R & P stripped the heads on lots of difficult screws.  Craftsman even made  R & P drivers for awhile.  They are marked Reed & Prince.  I'll try to dig some out for photos.

I noticed on my Reed & Prince screwdrivers that the tips come to a point. So we have Reed & Prince, Philips, Pozi Drive and Jis screwdrivers. Any other ones that look similar I missed ?

Sorry,  I misread the question.  They are not similar, but are fastener brands with specific (now generically known) drivers

I find that I have way less trouble with Robertson or Torx than Philips.

Hello, Guys. Thanks for all the input. Bottom line, the correct screwdriver tip , or insert bit for a magnetic bit holder is critical to ease of installation. Cabinet & door hardware can fool you, I have had to use 4 different screwdriver tips in one installation. (Phillips, Posi, Square #1 and #2 (Robertson). I agree that the square drive & Torx are the best fit between bit or screwdriver, & fastener. The worst, IMHO, are combo drives on any style head, no particular driver, or driver size ever seems to work!!! Regards, Lou

I have a big screw driver, very similar if not identical to yours, but I cannot see any markings on it.

Hello, On this one it was hard to find the markings. It appears to be a Reed & Prince style tip, still trying to uncover markings for size. Regards, Lou

I remember when Harley Davidson began using Pozidrive screws. Some of us were ready for it, but most of us weren't. It took a few messed up screws to convince me to buy the correct screwdrivers.

I just found one Reed & Prince marked screwdriver. It is marked on the metal ferrel R&P  MFG. CO. Worcester Chicago U.S.A. Wooden handle is marked 710. Most of the other ink printed markings on the handle are unreadable. The wood handle is in good shape except for the missing ink printing on the handle. The drive point is in good condition. I had to climb up on a ladder where my wood handled screwdrivers are displayed. The other one I found is unmarked. They are both # 2 drivers.
