What is this sign for ? I bought it because it mentions "road Molder" and I have a 40 year experience with Caterpillar. Thought it might be a little known road building company but find no such company.I know Norton from abrasives but cant pin down company this sign might reference. Sign is cast and is fairly heavy. Any info or guesses appreciated.

Norton motorcycles?

Yep. Norton Motorcycles. But usually says Road Holder, not Molder. Might be a repop sign with poor spelling.
-
That motto was likely quite true in its time. Norton's were sweet handling bikes.

Look at the H in approachable, not very crisp , as is also the case in the H in Holder. Just my 2 cents, Lou

Just need to repaint that H a little better then it will look like it should.

That's a horrible piece of scrap. Let me dispose of it properly for you.
No charge at all , happy to help out :cheesy:

Thanks all obviously a poor repop. Thankfully didn't buy it as real. Not a bike guy and learned something. The one on ebay has same flaw. Probably made large quantity.

Other than the little typo, it's a pretty appealing repro sign. I can see why you picked it up.

It's one of those English motorcycles with the shifter and rear brake pedals on the wrong sides of the bike.

Keep us posted if you want to pass it along, Jim. We have a couple hundred British motorcycle enthusiasts here in NY state including a Norton club. www.bmccny.org and www.nynoa.org.

Hopefully my Norton sign now says "ROAD HOLDER" not ROAD MOLDER
