Title: Mapson's Perfection Valve Lifter
Post by: lptools on May 30, 2018, 08:07:21 PM
Hello, This is the first one of these that I have come across. Mapson's Perfection Valve Lifter, Patent No. 1222229. For some unknown reason, former owner brazed an actual valve to the working end!!!!  Overall length is 26". Regards, Lou

I'd hazard a guess that there was a foot of some sort there at one time and it broke off and the po thought that part of a valve would work as a foot.

Possibly the valve was used to close the gap so it could be used on smaller engines.  I have modified a large valve spring compressor in that way.
