Hello to all, I have missed you all and thought of all of you often. I've been in a bit of a mess here. Depression has gotten the best of me these last months / half a year. Most recently, my best friend (my grandmother) died. She died on this past Monday and the funeral was on this past Saturday. It was awful. I was a pull-barer... carrying my dead grandmother all around town up and down flights of stairs proved to be nothing less then a horrible nightmare..... one that I now continue to have actual nightmares about.
I've been such a mess that I've stopped selling tools.... the one thing that I usually love doing... dealing with tools! Instead, I've spent time staring at blank walls wondering what the hell to do with myself. I need to pick myself up, get back to taking pictures of tools and listing them (if for no other reason, I'm completely broke! )So, that's why I have been absent for so long.
All of you folks have been nothing but a joy to be around. You've all been helpful and loyal friends.... and now and again... some of you know something about a tool :) HAHAHA
I hope that everyone had a good thanksgiving and I hope that you all have things to be thankful for. As for me, I'm just trying to make it from one day to the next. I'm having trouble even doing that. So, that's the only "excuse" I have for being absent for so long. I hope that everyone is doing well. I thank you all for your friendship
cheers

Bird, so sorry to hear about the loss of your Grand Mother. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. The end of year Holidays seem to be heavy on many people dealing with the stresses of life. Take one day at a time and stay close to those that love and care for you. I hope the words and encouragement from your fellow Tool Talk friends will help ease the pain and suffering you are experiencing. You can get through this, remember the good times you and your Grand Mother shared.

We will always be here for you!

Hey girl.
You know that making the effort to post is an indication that you are peeking out of the darkness again. Try to follow through and begin some activity with the tools. We are on your side.

Bird,
So sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a close family member is never easy (my parents and grand-parents are all gone) and my brothers and sisters and I are now the "older" generation. When i was 20 i don't think i ever figured that i would live this long.
YOU - you are a bright spot in our day here and we always like hearing from you. Some of us (not me) even know a thing or two about tools; but we all enjoy hearing about your latest find and trying to figure out what it is. Please keep us busy and know that we're all pulling for you (close enough to Red Green). If you are really down, you may want to talk with someone actually professional (again, not me!) and see if they can help you.

Good to hear from you again. Be well.

It's hard to turn that down, papaw! I've probably been "out posted" by someone else, and missed my thousand post marker! I've got a slew of tools that need to be identified. I'll tr y to get my act together and take pictures.... some might actually stump everyone.... but, I hope not!

I look forward to your posts! My condolences for your loss.

Hello, Bird. I am sorry about the the loss of your grand mother, and I hope that you will bounce back to posting tools on here soon. Getting going again on ebay is a chore in itself, so I wish you only the best, high bids, and many of them!!!!! Regards, Lou

WOW! It's so nice of all of you to send me love, good wishes, happy hunting, ect.
Papaw, this is your worst night mare..... I have a semi new computer that I stole from my dad's shop (teach him to go on vacation without me.... they locked the doors, but I can still get into the garage.... hence the den where the 'good computer' lives) and now I'm at a complete loss for photos again. I don't think you can save me from this one! I take the pictures, put that little chip thing into the computer... and the pictures dissapear. Maybe Santa will bless me with some computer knowledge???? UGHHHHHh
I love you all very much and hope that you are all doing well.
Aghhhh, the sweet humming sound of an air compressor with a slow leak... scares the shit out of me sometimes... tends to shake the upstairs now and again... probably just my imagination.
love you all and merry christmas / holiday / or whatever that it is you do to celebrate life.
cheers

"chip thing"? You mean and SD card or a micro-SD card? If that computer has a slot for them and it's running windows of some variety, you should be able to open up (file) explorer and see that device added to the "drive list" in the left column. At that point you should be able to just "open" it and see your pictures.

I agree with p_toad.
-
Yay! Bird's eBay store is open for business again! What a great start to the day, to see that.
-
Well? Any luck on getting to your pictures? Curious minds want to see.

So, now I have an actual new computer, thanks to pops. He said if he had to get one more 3 in the morning email from me cussing out a computer he was going to go nuts. So, I do have a new computer now. I think it's been that long since I've talked to you folks. I think I can put that chip into the computer now and get my pictures. I'm annoyed because I can't figure out how to "name"' each set of pictures. It all just comes up as 1100, 1101, ect. I haven't found a way to rename each round of pictures (the chip thing that I put in ) ... it all comes up in numbers. So, I have to keep notes on what the number is of the latest picture. I know, I'm completely ignorant when it comes to computers. I also finally bought a new "tablet" . I can get the internet at Annes, dads, and anywhere but my house. I can't get it to recognize my router . It recognizes everyone else's internet... put in the password, get the internet. But, it won't recognize any password that I can put in ... every number / letters on the back of the modem. UGHHHHHH I liked writing letters to get in touch with someone much better then this.

Bird,
I have a free program called FileRenamer which will let me take a series of pictures and name them anything i want... if it's a series and i want to just increment the number etc, i can do that... so 1000, 1001, etc., can become plane001, plane002, plane003, etc.
-
If you save the files to your desktop in the original folders, you can then rename each file by right clicking on it and a drop down gives you options. One of them is "rename". Be sure to press enter after you rename a file.
-
Not sure but maybe you want to group your photos into files. Then just right click and rename each file. I think I would go nuts if i had to name each photo.
You can name the file for tool type or date them - or name and date.
Hope this helps.
