Title: Tool Holders From The Flea

Hello, I found these today.The wood handle tool has a Patent Date of Aug 12 , 1884. Sargent???  The tool holder at bottom is stamped L.E.B.Co (within a pennant) 115 Broadway, New York, USA PAT. PEND. The body is brass , with what I am guessing is a nickel plating?? Nice 4 jaw chuck & collet, and has the strangest set of attachments I have come across. More info to follow !!! Regards, Lou

Nice finds.  The metal one is particularly interesting.  Probably the largest number of assessories I've seen in a tool of this type.

Now all I have to do is find the missing 34 tools from the original 47!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1915 Directory of Directors of the City of New York shows a Mr. Edwin Baltzley as President and Director, and a Mr. Louis Baltzley as Treasurer and Director of the L.E.B. Co., located at 115 Broadway, New York, NY (which according to the later Facebook post was relocated at some point.)(?)
The author of the Facebook post says the 47-piece "Multi-tool" was being sold from about 1912-1915.
I haven't found a patent number for the L.E.B. "Multi-tool" as of yet.
It's worth noting that Mssrs. Baltzley were each issued a number of patents, each under their own name, for a number of devices, among them egg-beaters, a sound-deadening device for typewriters, a "culinary beater", and a coin sorter, among others. The most lucrative, no doubt, being the patent issued to Louis (the son of Edwin) for his paper binding clip.

You are correct that the wood one was made by Sargent. I have several , but have never seen one in that condition…and hope I never do. :grin:
