Weird box from the Flea today.
I can't figure out why it has such a heavy duty spring loaded lid. The Hinge is three times what's needed.
I found a ProtectoSeal Comp. , but no info on 284A box
6" x 6 " on lid x 3 1/2" high
Looks like it was made to slide out of a cabinet? has the small handle on front.
It's heavy.
Any clues?
Sorry , lost a photo of the overview. I'll get one later.

Fire?
Security?

Looks like the boxes often found on the running boards of old fire trucks to me. Often, those of that size held a first aid kit.

Here's another odd one.

They make fire protection pieces. Still would like to know the purpose of this one.
cody6268 , thanks for the input

Hello, Lostmind. I believe that style is still made by Just-Rite. You would pour whatever solvent you are using into the can, right through the screen, but not higher than the screen.. Then you would press down with a rag, to dispense just enough liquid to dampen or soak the rag. Close the lid, and safe storage for the solvent. Regards, Lou
