I have a gallon of Evaporust I bought more than two years ago. Is it still OK to use? I also have some that has been used but saved in the original jug-Same question.

I don't have the answer to your question, but I did not like the product myself due to how messy it is and it's cost. I use white vinegar and find it works quite well and thats all I have to say about that.

I also use vinegar, but wonder if the Evaporust is still good. Guess I will just have to see.

I would have to believe that the unused product would be good yet. The previously used product could have a shelf life if not kept in an air tight container I would think.

I would try it. For what it costs you don't want to throw it away.

I have used older jugs of it with no problems.
I also reuse Evaporust, I strain it when pouring it back into the jug.

I keep mine in a plastic container with a positive locking lid. The "destructions" say if the product gets to low, just add more water. So maybe the chemical or whatever makes it work hangs around. I personally like the stuff.

I've had good luck using Evap-O-Rust that has been stored for years, both new and previously used. I have always filtered the used EOR before returning it to the container.
I also go to some lengths to remove contaminants (i.e. grease, oil, dirt, and loose rust or chrome) from any tool that headed for an EOR bath.
You can always run a small test with a small rusty item and a small amount of EOR. You have nothing to loose.

This all good to know. Generally I just use a brass wire brush and some sort of thinned oil pb blatster, liquid wrench, mmo etc. If that isn't enough to satisfy me then in the electrolysis tank it goes.

one thing that I failed to add, is that I always shake the jug before using it.
does it help ??? just one of my habits, I do the same with anti-freeze.

I just bought my first jug a few weeks ago. The stuff works good........actually it works TOO good. Now I've got a hundred-year-old tool with a bright shiny silver metallic finish on it. :-\
So now what is a good way to get some "instant patina" back onto it?

I'm guessing most of the members of this site aren't going to be around 50 years from now, but I like your answer.

one of the Saturday morning car shows on Velocity had this very question in one of their paid for segments. They showed it dried up in a lump. added the same amount as originally used good as before. They showed it black like old motor oil that is when it is wasted. Which show? performance tv? (I think) The blonde lady has been on a few years she was on so I think that is the shows name. I do not know if it was a new show or a repeat.

I soak tools is EOR for an hour or so and then brass brush tool off. Rinse with water and blow dry and WD40 bath.
Patina stay put but surface rust is gone...
