Lostmind remarked on another thread about seeing a fellow snatch a high dollar ratchet for a mere $5.
Made me wonder about stories many of us can tell about the one that got away.
Take a minute or four and tell us about your near miss.
Myself, I visited a garage sale ten minutes from my house last Friday and missed a Simmons metal cabinet similar to this one.
It had a $10 tag on it. But it was already sold. Sheesh!

I will tell you about one of many that got away.
a few years ago, my wife and I traveled to an old engine/tractor show, parked the truck and had to look for the rest room,
as I was walking, we passed a table of tools for sale, on the table was a 12 inch Ellis wrench, I told my wife that as soon as we
found the rest rooms, we are going back and buy that wrench, we got back to the table and I could not find it, I asked the seller
where it was, "oh, the one with the swivel head ?" (me) "yes that one" seller, "oh, I just sold it, the feller talked me down to $30."
( darn water pills )
another Ellis story, I had a chance to pick up a 12 inch Ellis, but did not buy it, I already had one, (so I thought) when I got around
to cleaning it, it was not a 12 incher, it was a 10 incher.
Lewill2, do you hear me ? I am still looking for a 12 inch Ellis wrench

Earlier this year I screwed up big time on this wrench that was listed on eBay. Neat old wrench, with a spanner on the lower jaw, and a hollow handle containing screwdriver bits and such. Just the sort of contraption I love. My plan was to wait around until the last moment and bid, but I forgot and lost track of time and missed the auction ending by five minutes.
Five freakin' minutes. Dang. I'm still kicking myself about that one.
