Title: What is this?
Post by: Kris Evans on March 15, 2017, 04:29:52 PM
Picked this up many years ago. Probably in a box lot I got somewhere. Have asked several old-timers what they thought. Can't find anyone to give me a definitive answer. My guess, perhaps an anvil for a cobbler, or tinsmith.
There are no markings on it anywhere. Just a rather crude casting.
Thanks

Could be a foundry tool known as a "sand rammer"  some are wood, some are cast by foundries for their own use. I have wooden ones, you can see one on the bench at the right.
The iron bullet shape with a wooden square tab is going to be a "forming head" or "bench dollie" for working on older headlamps.
