Got this a while ago. I can't find a name or mark on it. From the best I can tell, by the flat spring that is dovetailed in to the handle and the brown rust type finish, I would say it was made by a skilled gunsmith. I guess I just haven't read far enough through my pile of old gunsmithing books to know exactly what it does. And who knows, maybe I am completely wrong? Either way I like reading the ideas that come up here. Thanks in advance!
Once again I forgot to put a scale in the pic. Its about 5" overall length

I'm thinking more along the lines of a jewelers or watchmakers tool.

yours look like a much earlier pair, perhaps it never had a ring. depended on hand pressure.
