Title: happy thanksgiving... a bit late
Post by: bird on November 29, 2016, 12:22:34 AM
Hi guys, I just wanted to wish everyone a belated happy thanksgiving. Hopefully, everyone was able to think about some things they are thankful for.... and maybe even get along with their family for thanksgiving supper:) As for me, I traveled to PA to visit my 94 year old grandmother..... who, by the way, has a memory 10 times sharper then mine will ever be! Her husband died at the age of 54. After a while, she started her own business hemming clothes and then selling clothes. She became a top seller in the country for Doncaster (sp?????) clothing. I can't tell you too much about that brand of clothing.... if it even is a brand. But, the point is that she decided to start a business from nothing. I guess that's what I have done with selling some tools. My love of tools hasn't changed at all. My brother has said to me, "Bird, how did you manage to have a hobby that makes you some money? Every hobby I've had only costs me money"
Maybe I'm not as stupid as I thought I was :)
Anyhow, I'm very grateful for my family, and for them putting up with a semi crazy daughter, sister, granddaughter, and aunt. I hope everyone else found a reason to be grateful for something; that "something" isn't always so easy to find. Anyhow, I'm grateful for all of you
cheers

Bird, I am glad that you have found your place in life, may you have many years of happiness.

in life, we have to at some point experience the bad to truly appreciate the good.

have a good week, Frank

All the same back at ya Bird!    Hope you and the family stay well and keep on.   Collecting is always fun; making money on the side off it is fun too and you get to pass a tool along to another.

I think that two of the reasons  your hobby makes money are:

1. You take the time to make it make money. Research, photographing, etc. takes a lot more than simply buying, cleaning up, figuring out, then shelving.

2. From what I've noticed in what you've shared here,  you went all in.

Best of luck, always.
