Title: what is this?
Post by: skylab on October 26, 2011, 08:51:08 PM
When I bought 3 large PRR wrenches about a year ago this guy gave me this extra part to me free and said it belong with the wrenches.   Even though I didn't want it.  The paint matches perfectly with the wrenches.  Said he bought from a estate and didn't want to separate it.
I have no idea what it is.  Maybe part from a train?

I've seen that here or on Garage Gazette before, but don't remember what it is.

Looks like a compounding funnel you find in a boiler room.

Generally it's found atop the tank that adds chemical to the makeup water.

That one was probably reassigned to another job.

A drip catcher under the spout on a luber in a gas station or a very old funnel from an oil change barrel?
