Found this at the flea market
-
Is it some sort of snatch block?
-
There are pieces like that on the end of a chain on some fence stretchers.

This Ebay seller agrees with you, John.

For sure part of a wire stretcher. In a couple days if I can find it I will post pictures of a complete one. Patent 1880 something. You can still buy them but now they are pressed tin instead of cast.

I have a complete one at my old house, but someone else will probably beat me to posting a picture. I am saving it to repair my neighbor's fence. I slid off the road in the snow last winter and knocked out some of his fence. I am waiting for the weeds to die down to fix it (that and a good dose of procrastination).

Uh, huh...Saturday turned out to be a nice day. You could have mended fence then.....just kidding! Did the wife enjoy your "critter" you built??
Enjoyed seeing you at Joe's, we need to get you up to the Conference this spring, AND your tools, of course!
