Don't want to step on any toes, but I received a "heads up" about a reprint of "Antique & Unusual Wrenches" offered on eBay.
We let that book go out of print for good & sufficient reasons when mom decided she could no longer deal with it. Please understand that decision & live with it. If you feel you must have a copy made, please honor dad with an appropriate donation to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation in his honor.

I thought he had posted here that he had gotten your permission to reprint the book.

I have gotten permission from Stan to reprint his Dad's book.

he did post it Papaw, I thought it was strange that we did not get the message from Stan. now we know.
I hope that no one sent in the $40.oo that was requested for the book.
I have been a member of MVWC since the 1980's and know the hard work that Stan's Mom & Dad put into the book.

John asked me to delete that thread and I have. Must have been a misunderstanding.
-
I've just sent a long message to John apologizing for any misunderstanding on my part in this matter.
To help address the issue of making the content of "Antique & Unusual Wrenches" more easily available, I'm going to post "watermarked" page scans as a set of images in FLICKR. They will be free to view, download, etc. but will have a "not for resale" and "copyright Schulz Farms LLC" "watermark." It will take most of my free time next week to get this done, but that's my goal for now.
I've shared this idea with my sister Barb - her late husband Jon did all the b&w photography for the book - and she supports making its content available online.
Dad & mom could not have done the book without the support & encouragement of wrench collectors & the M.V.W.C. I am possibly more aware than most of the book's errors & omissions. Knowing those errors & omissions is a primary factor in the decision to let the book go out of print. Hopefully making the content available online will be a satisfactory compromise for those wanting to obtain a copy, and perhaps serve as a stimulus to get more people actively pursuing the hobby & joining the organizations that support it.
Regards, Stan Schulz
4:30 pm P.S. John is "out of pocket" for the copies he made, so I gave him permission to sell them, with a note that a portion of the proceeds will go to support Parkinson's Disease research.

One more time & maybe this thread can wind up.
As previously promised; "Antique & Unusual Wrenches" is digitized (image width set at 1250 pixels) & posted to an album in FLICKR ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/mvwcnews/albums/72157666110673200 ). Made minor edits to correct some errors & added patent numbers to expedite patent lookups. Not all patents are in DATAMP yet, but that's on my to do list.
Have toyed with the idea of adding keywords in the "description" text box that accompanies each image in FLICKR -- that would facilitate searching through the book's contents.

Stan, all I can say is Wow! In addition to all the scanning and uploading, you've added a TON of additional patent information. And all in just the past few days! Thanks for the hard work man. (Now go get some sleep!)

Nice gift -Thanks
-
Stan, You are a generous man, thank you. Frank

Thank you very much Stan, it's well appreciated.

So I guess the fallout from this is that the original copies might not sell anymore. There was an eBay auction that ended in the last day or 2 that had a revised edition with a $44 and change starting bid that didn't sell.
