Title: Bonney single offset DBE wrenches
Post by: bonneyman on March 23, 2016, 10:17:09 PM
Who's got the set of those here? Found another pair, now up to 3.

Want to know what sizes Bonney made in those. I'm thinking 7/16" up to 1"?
I have 3/4", and a 1/2" and 9/16" should be on their way to me soon.

I don't remember who had those either but you are correct 7/16-1 including 25/32 plus 1 1/16, 1 1/8 and 1 1/4.  Long pattern were 7/16-3/4.

To collect all there are 3 sets......

CV Chrome Vanadium

Zenel

Bonalloy

and there's Gray-Bonney options to add.

I'm not sure what bill300d means with "Long pattern were 7/16-3/4"

I'm 5 short and most are CV from 1929

My mistake, I was confused, I swear. The 4 or 5 largest were only CV or Bonaloy I believe. By the late 40's the set only went to 3/4.

We need someone with a post 34 Catalog to show when Zenel became an option for these wrenches.

In 1934 the following sets were offered.......

Box Wrench Set No 31 comprised 7/16 thru 3/4 so there should be more of these examples to be found

Box Wrench Set No 33 comprised 7/16 thru 15/16

Box Wrench Set No 34 comprised 7/16 thru 15/16 with 3 small DBE

One would have had to do single purchases for 25/32, 1, 1 1/16, 1 1/8, 1 1/4

All three of mine are Zenel.

I think it was Heelspur or Oily. They had a set lacking the 3/4", which I happen to have. So I gave it to him. Then someone else sent me another 3/4". Now with getting two more I'm on the hunt for the rest.

Must have been Oily, I picked up a couple yesterday going to post them in the F/S section.

Take a look at my site, I have a ton of Bonney catalogs uploaded, and a bunch more to go: toolarchives.com.  Here's a link to the Bonney date codes, and when the different alloys came in / went out: http://toolarchives.com/node/230

Gone to a lucky buyer, wonder what the true date is?

It is Set #33 in the metal case option.

Date codes I can see are U.  That would be 1929 or '43 but '43 is doubtful due to the finish on most of those.  So, 1929.

I have been collecting these Bonney single offset wrenches for about 15 years but I have never seen one in bonnalloy. If anyone has a picture of one please post it.
Thanks,
