any ideas ? this thing is approx 20 inches long, threaded both ends.
i would think that it threads into something, then the second bit whacks it out?
-
Not for whacking, the fine thread, and nice big handles tell me it's a puller for something. (screw it in tight to the collar, then screw more to extract something) But I have no clue what...
-
slide hammer of sorts?

It might be a joist/beam type jack that is missing the second tubular half.

I have seen them called screw jacks.

Thanks; I could not think of the name when I posted my reply. I have 2 holding up my cellar house just out back. I should have known that.
