Hi,
I'm Jeff from Queensland, Australia, most of my friends call me batz.
I'm a collector of blow torches, I have lots of US torches so think of me when you see one at a flee market. If I can watch out for anything you guys are after form down under just let me know.
Oh, I'm 55 and live on 25 acres of subtropical rain forest, I work part time these days and brew my own beer....life doesn't get much better than this ;D ;D ;D
Cheers

Hi Brian, From scratch mate, I do the full mash or 'all grain' brewing.

Those couple of spaces on the shelf have been filled, now I need more shelves !
I'am getting obsessed here ain't I? ::)

Obsessed? Oh, no - you can't be. "Obsessives" are blocked a couple of steps before they can write about their collection(s) or hobbies in the Welcome Forum. Those of us who reach this place merely have our priorities in order. Welcome back, Mate!
Any particular torches you're looking for, especially US-made ones? I'll be at a swap meet tomorrow, and possibly at least one other day this weekend; safe bet that I WILL see blowtorches, but I don't know what's common or rare, what is realistic in terms of pricing, etc. Still, if something catches my eye and the price is low enough, I may pick up what I find.

Here is a batch of torches seen at the Edgerton, Wisconsin Thresheree (www.thresheree.org (http://www.thresheree.org)) today. All priced in USD $10 - 25 range, I believe. I have NO expertise in torches, so don't know whether these are common and useless or unusual and worth picking up; please advise, as I may be going back on Monday (US Labor Day, Batz, FYI). Thanks!

Thanks Ron,
I have all of those in your photo but cheers for thinking of me. Here's a quick run down on a few U.S. torches that I'm interested in.
Torches with pumps in the handle rather than the tank, the control knob can be a small wooden handle (photo shows the wood missing as is ofter the case, no real problem)
Flat tank torches with the pump also in the handle.
The last small alcohol torch is a Lenk and very common, a few where made with a pump in the handle, I'll love to get my hands on one of those.
Most of these torches are really only worth $15.00-$20.00 (Lenk with pump $60.00-$100.00) and shipping is a killer now days.

While we are on the subject of members of this site looking out for torches on my behalf, a big thank you to both Brian and Papaw. Both these guys have forwarded me torches from the US ! What a great site this is, and that's only because of the people here.

Here's a picture of the Lenk I'm after.
These are a rare find.

Thanks for the photos and quick tutelage on torches! I'll have a better idea of what to watch for; I see them in garage-, yard-, estate-, and rummage-sales around here (would be tag-sales in the eastern US, probably several additional names within regions where our members reside), and more likely to spot a bargain in one of them. Sounds like the dealer whose wares I photographed had realistic prices, but as you say, shipping would be killer.
