Title: diamond brand tools
Post by: diamond jim on January 25, 2016, 08:14:22 PM
New to the site! Back in the early 80's we used Diamond brand hand tools They offered a pair of 8'' channel lock type of pliers that opened extra wide. I am looking for a pair of these in good condition.

Hi Jim, welcome to tool talk from sunny Florida. This is a great site with a bunch of real helpful members.  Sorry I can't help with the Diamond pliers.

Welcome Jim!

Those old Diamond tools are hard to find, even harder in good condition.
I looked for several years to find the two pliers I have. They are great tools!

Here are the two I have. I wouldn't mind completing the set.

Is this the style you're looking for? I can get you the part numbers if that might help.

No, didn't dip them. That's how I found them. NOS in great condition, get put away into the rainey day box.

I glanced at my catalog quickly but didn't see a wide-opening version of the 8"er.

bonneyman,

I've never seen a Diamond Tool catalog.

What year is your Diamond catalog?  I noticed that Diamond was owned by Triangle at the time.  Probably the end or near the end of Diamond tools.

I believe it is a 1986 catalog, Gary. Got it from the same warehouse who used to be a Bonney dealer back in the day and gave me their Bonney catalog. Saw the Diamond catalog some time later, and they gave it to me.

I might send it to twersty so he can upload it to his catalog site and let everybody see it.

I have some of their horse shoes. The tossing kind. I have lots of their tools and have found them to be top shelf stuff.

About two years ago I bought two Diamalloy pliers in a house clearance shop. Paid € 10.- each.
I now understand that was a rare find.

I recently bought two pairs of pliers,  6" Diamond and 8" SK.  They both have green vinyl grips - (they were torn and I cut them off).  They are completely identical other than the branding.  This was news to me.  I like Diamond tools.

These pliers came that way when new. I sold tons of them in the hdw store in the 1970's and even the 1980's.
