Title: AMPCO wrench question ?
Post by: EVILDR235 on November 16, 2015, 08:51:10 AM
I was at the Habitat Restore Friday and picked up a 4 inch long AMPCO tool post wrench. It is a 3/8 opening size. It has a flat black finish. In places where the finish is worn you can see bronze color. The strange thing is it is slightly magnetic. Why would a wrench with the alloys used to make it be slightly magnetic ?

I saw a 5" standard tip AMPCO screwdriver a few weeks ago, again with that coppery-looking color. Pretty chewed up, but, if I'd known it was kinda magnetic, I might have grabbed it as a driver for holding screws.

Has it got a part number on it ? Most Ampco tools are advertised as non-sparking and non magnetic. Alsso most Ampco tool have abbreviation of material but realize that a small wrench may not have room for this kind of info. Any markings?

Ampco name only. Appears it has never been used.
