Title: Forstner bits
Post by: jimwrench on August 15, 2015, 11:19:34 AM
Bought these at auction Thurs. I thought the ring man and the auctioneer said Forstner bits but I knew they were mortising chisels so I bought them. Got change from a $10 bill. Looks like a a Delta set and a cheap Toolshop set but for the price I'm not complaining. My auction ticket says forstner bits. Do I dare cut a mortise with them ?

They cut o.k., esoecially if your chisels are sharp.  It helps that you are pushing through with tge drill press feed.

I bought a new Delta set 20 or more years ago. I didn't find them as useful as I thought I would.

Even so, for lessvthan 10 bucks I would have bid you up......
