Title: Do you know what this is?
Post by: Shadowbhindyou on July 24, 2015, 12:24:42 PM
My grandparent recently passed away, and I came across this tool, and can't identify it. I thought it was a leather marking tool, but when I rolled it on some leather, it didn't really do anything. The only markings on it are a "D H" stamped into it. Thank you in advance for any help.
I may need some direction on how to post the picture.

That's the whole tool. It has the roller head, and a square, tapering, shank.

a good clear closeup of the roller would help.

does the roller look like a grinding wheel dresser ???

Was the leather veg tanned and wet when you tried the tool?

Chrome and other chemical tanned leather won't tool.  Tooling leather needs to be wet to tool. Then it will take almost antpy impression from a steel tool.
