Title: MVWC Facebook page
Post by: mvwcnews on May 11, 2015, 02:36:04 PM
Don't know how effective it will be, but for what it's worth, have launched a FACEBOOK page for the Missouri Valley Wrench Club  ( www.facebook.com/pages/Missouri-Valley-Wrench-Club-Inc/783942938369230 )
On papawswrench we have "handles" & our real identifies are largely hidden unless we share them.
Not so on FACEBOOK -- so I created a 2nd "persona" to "front" there.  You "like" a page in FACEBOOK to receive updates -- it is a "thumbs up" icon.

In the times we live in, I think as much computer exposure as you can get will do nothing but help the MVWC down the road. They say facebook is dying off, but it is still the 3rd most looked at website in the US, behind google and youtube. Nearly 129,000,000 hits a month, if that's dying off, what did it used to be?

At one point  I was trying to do organized image collections in FLICKR, but the social media front end they put in place made the process very daunting, so I have not done anything there for quite a while.

For now I'm going to try to keep a "people" focus  to the image albums I add to facebook.  I've got some photos that go quite a ways back -- including some that were handed over by Eloise Alton and some that Pat Bailey gave me after Tom died.

The social aspect of the club has always been a draw; I'm not as good at that side of things but maybe this will be one  way to help foster that side of the hobby.
