Of all the wood handled screwdrivers that I've come across this is the first that has a number on the tip.
Are the numbered ones any harder to find than others?

I have seen a few, but not many. That is one of the Six-Sixty models.

I must be missing something. My 660's have a depressed area in front of the wood with a big S on one side and 660 on the other.

This one has the Six Sixty on the shaft curling around it.
Here is the one you mention. This was rescaled by our own 64longstep in Arizona. Brian rescaled it with Purpleheart that I had sent him some time ago.

I have a 14" #8 waiting for me to clean up. The Six Sixty logo is very faint, and I think it will disappear if I try too hard.
Bus showed a winged in the Saak auction in 2011. Lot #126 , item #2.

Does that mean that all the round shank screwdrivers are 660's?

No . it does not. In the last catalog the Six Sixties are not mentioned at all.

This one has a number in the stamped area that goes around the shaft but there's a nick over the #.
Has a pat'd date, if I remember correctly its Aug 25, 06.

So much for the #8 being the only one I've seen in the wild. Picked up this #2 today and saw a #6 in an antique store, but it had a price tag of $17 so I let it be.

I'm envious. None of my perfect handle drivers are numbered.

I just received a #8 H D Smith Six-Sixty in a lot of three screwdrivers bought on this Facebook page- https://www.facebook.com/groups/antiquetoolsbuyselltrade/search/?query=screwdrivers (https://www.facebook.com/groups/antiquetoolsbuyselltrade/search/?query=screwdrivers)
