Title: It is old and adjustable
Post by: john k on April 07, 2015, 09:26:14 PM
A member displayed these two relics at the last MWTCA meeting.   One has been in her family since 1922, the other greatly resembles the patent office drawings submitted by Mr. Petersen, who started Vise-Grip.  It needed a wrench to tighten on the work piece, no pliers grip.  Also were displayed some 30 other Vise Grips.  I thought it was interesting.

1st  (  http://www.datamp.org/patents/advance.php?pn=1392443&id=20615&set=1 ) &
2nd  ( http://www.datamp.org/patents/advance.php?pn=1489458&id=21107&set=2 ) "vise-grip" patents
The DATAMP entry for the 2nd patent includes some examples of "manufacturer's evolution" of the product .

The 1942 patent ( http://www.datamp.org/patents/advance.php?pn=2280005&id=21108&set=3 ) is the basis for WWII & later vintage Vise-Grips through the last half of the 20th Century.
