Thought that might get your attention. Just putting this out there for others to view. Chime in if you know what it is (I already do), but don't spill the beans too early so we can get some creative guesses coming in.
Hint: All 8 protrusions are a 4 sided.

I thought I was in the 'creative guess' camp. my bad.
That said, good guess kit.

Yep, you guys nailed it. For the record, it's a G17 drain plug wrench, in which I cropped out the part number that is visible in the original photo. Each nub is slightly tapered and a different size.
Ken-Tool is known for their tire repair tools today, but in the past made quite a few other specialty tools.
