Title: Whats a good offer for

a 8" Billings adjustable S wrench?

Its in great shape and doesn't say Billings & Spencer, just Billings.

I checked out ebay and a few other places with no luck.

Only Sold one I see went for $23 plus shipping, and it was B&S.

Here is the Billings, got it for $8. For some reason my buddy doesn't think this one is made of gold. He has an Erie Tool S adjustable that he wants a fortune for. He's a Griswold collector and believes that "Erie" on them has them connected so they are valuable. Anywho here is the wrench.

I really like those s shaped adjustables.

I have only found one so far ( or at least only one that was within my price / desireability range! ) But I know there are plenty out there - so here's to you who have found them, I'll join your club some fine day!

I never paid much attention to these style wrenches before.. But as I'm working on putting everything into an inventory, I noticed that the 8" Billings and the 12" B&C both used the number 48. I find it strange that they would use the same number on 2 different sizes, even though they are different makers.

I believe that the 48 is the style number for that year.

in 1929, Bemis & Call acquired Coe's wrench designs.

in 1939, Bemis & Call was acquired by the Billings & Spencer Co. and they continued to
produce the Coe's & Bemis & Call wrenches. plus their own line of tools.

that may be when they used the #48 style/model number.

That may be it, like I said, I never really looked into them before. I have a ton of them, but mostly just by accident, other than my 4" and 14" Westcott's.
