Just won this today...estate sale online auction. 2nd one in 3 months, the other one is a bigger chest with more stuff. I think it is the fourth I have found and won in 16 months.
I almost fell out of my seat when I won this one for less than a quarter of the max I had on it. I haven't been this excited in weeks, well at least the last 5 days. (The last weekend was extremely painful, and I am very familiar with that kind of feeling, but this was extraordinary) it was great to win ths auction at $27. I think that the box alone is worth that.

Sweet find. Great price! I now have a new item to add to my list of wants and it's your fault!

27 bucks? I think we have a suckage alert here. 27 for the chest, AND it is full of good tools?

Major You Suck Award!
Thanks for that honor Papaw!
I showed Mrs. Chilly the above comments and picture. After looking them over, she said "And for you guys that's a good thing, right?"
She asked because she could tell I was pleased by the whole thing. I explained "Yes, in this case it is good to suck."
Thanks again Papaw, and thanks for the other kind comments also.

PS I'll share pictures of the contents soon.

Interesting, it looks like a pair of farriers pincers in there with the wood working tools...

Sure looks like it to me -- third photo. Hoof nippers I call them.

Could be nail pincers.
Two or three items have that similar look but different applications.

Concur. I've picked up several pair of nail pincers over the years, and Diamond Calk Horseshoe (one of Duluth's fine manufacturers) made end-cutting pliers similar to the ones in the picture (points up) that are dynamite for demolition work - or for removing nails that, oops, I bend just before the last blow to sink them. I own two pair of the Diamond end-cutters in different sizes.

Love those old boxes that have seen some hard use. Thinking someone earned their keep hauling them to and from job sites. Finding the tools still in it is something I've not seen. Mine have been empty or full of smelly rusty bits of foreign objects. I'd say you did good. You have to stop now at four, yeah right.

I'm still rooting for hoof nippers. The longest pair of pincers I've ever seen are 12
inches long. Nail pincers generally have round reins, unlike the flat reins on
the pair in question.
Longer reins give too much mechanical advantage and are likely to cut the nail
off unless one is really careful.
