Title: socket rack
Post by: 1930 on January 17, 2015, 05:09:05 AM
I am looking for some vintage socket holders, the rail with the tits you push the socket down into and it holds them. How do I search E-bay for these, what are they called, I am thinking I should be able to pick these up cheap, tried a few keywords I could think of and got a couple of hits but the racks were more than I thought they would be priced.

If anyone has some laying around Id take them for a few bucks a piece. Need 3/8, 1/4 and 1/2 sizes. Thanks

I don't exactly know what you mean by "vintage" socket holders, but try Harbor Freight. Their socket holders cost 99 cents each.

I've found that the cheap ones are exactly that CHEAP and not worth the fuel it takes to drive to Harbor Freight. There are some good ones out there but you have to pay a little more for them. Mac makes real good ones, you turn the socket a quarter turn when you put it on the stake and it holds really well.I don't know how long these have been around, I think they might be fairly recent, so I don't know if they can be considered vintage or not.

Try Sears. the orange handle one looks like a craftsman.

I guess I had it right, socket rack is the correct keyword and evidently they are selling for more than I anticipated on E-bay

I dont like those strips. I've started keeping them in boxes where I can ( the metal socket set boxes and racks.)

I also found plastic racks at Murdochs. They have a center rod and cost $3 -$6.50 or so each. Ebay has someone selling a set of 3 for $19.99, Amazon a set of 6 is $19.99 + shipping.

That reminds me of another tools I have by armstrong. Well more of tool storage but it's by Armstrong.

I have one of the plastic rail socket holders. I cant remeber were I got it but it works great.

Keep in mind the clips are separate from the rail.

PM me, I have a bunch of those rails. I'll send them to you.
It would be nice if you could cover postage, but if things are tight while starting your new business, don't worry about it.

I like them also, have some for my more frequent users, strips would be fine for my infrequent users though. Thanks
