Title: More questions
Post by: jimwrench on January 16, 2015, 11:27:47 AM
Seems like I always have more questions than answers.
Keen Kutter wood chisel with plastic handle- does anyone know approx. vintage of this type handle ?
Cast implement wrench with two size openings on each end -anyone know his parents ?
Bottom one I assume is tank wrench-anyone recognize?

My 1910 keen kutter book shows no plastic handled chisels
Found similar tank wrench in past tool auction with boss in different location but parentage was unknown.

No markings on the middle wrench.

My guess is the handle is a replacement

The last picture shows the handle is hollow in the end that attaches to the chisel.  Does the chisel have a tang that extends into that hollow?  Looks like it does, but I have never seen a chisel with a tang in the back.   Seems to always be a conical cavity for the handle to jam into.

Handle has a .25 dia rod about 2in long in tapered portion and extending into body of handle with handle molded around it.
